Thank you! And Amen…I’m reading comments of CHRISTIANS all over my Facebook who are going in droves to see these movies…even go to Twilight “parties”….When I walked in Books A Million weeks ago with my husband and saw all the Twilight stuff I decided to walk down the teen section and it disturbed me greatly. About 85 to 90% of the books were “dark”, witches, vampires, goblins, fairies”, etc…and I starting to talking to a 17 year old girl who was there looking and I said what is the deal? (knowing the answer) why soooo many dark books you think? she said “probably came from the fact that Twilight is so popular and it opened the door for more like it”…hmmm, she couldn’t be more accurate. Anyway, I agree with you 100% and thank you for posting this!!!!! We have been in deliverance meetings before and this stuff is real.

Thanks again! Oh and agree with you about Batman too…me and my husband perceived the same thing about that too…we gotta have the spirit of discernment in these times

thanks, some of these comments have really helped me every one in my secondary school is completely addicted to the twilight saga. and i was completly torn in 2, i didnt know if i should go watch with my friends and say “its only a movie/book’ or wether to stay strong in my faith. but these comments have given me the answer and i would not reccomend it to ANYONE.

1) To the first question on “benevolent despotism,” I think reading Tocqueville’s chapter on “What Sort of Despotism Democratic Nations Have to Fear” is helpful, and kind of freaky in a “How did a 19th century Frenchman get the character of America so right?” kind of way:

2) To the second question, I don’t think America produces the kinds of politicians who become dictators. Our public officials may morph into all kinds of other despicable things, but a ruthless, totalitarian, calculating (and popular!) caesar is not one of them (yet?).

Very happy to see the Manhattan Declaration. Signing it will put you in some excellent company.

I think we are, to what degree? Probably all the way after a period of time. Incrementally is the way it will probably happen.

I have heard it said from a pastor (can’t remember who it was, could of been Larry Stockstill? don’t remember for sure) “The government is a reflection of the church.” (paraphrase) The immorality in our government leaders happens in the church first, hypocrisy in government leaders certainly has been in the church from day one, etc. down to church government. Many churches have this form of government already or have switched to it. It’s not suprising that our government would follow suit. Even churches that have a “traditional” government with a charasmatic pastor/preacher wind up over stepping the traditional form of government for some decisions that go on in the church, which is another pattern we see going on in our government.

We shouldn’t be suprised. We have accepted it in the church now it’s the governments turn. Not that I agree.

Steve, thank you so much for your support of what the Lord is doing here at IHOP-KC/IHOPU. I am a student here with your son and am encouraged by your support. Please keep praying for wisdom, endurance, and love for Jesus for all of us students.
Well, anyhow, I just wanted to say thank you and that I am excited to have the privilege of coming up in December to speak at Yearn. Thank you for that opportunity as well. May the Lord do there as we have been blessed to see Him do here! Amen.

Elli – Kristen thought the same thing about the cartoon. I didn’t mean to convey the arrow was pointing away from the Bible, only that – on a continuum, it’s all left of the radical devotion we see in the Bible. I meant to convey the spectrum of radical.

I so agree with you and am uber-delighted you had a powerful time there last week – keep telling the story of how a 9th grade algebra class spontaneously prayed for you and Leann. And, I needed the Chin Up and the Press On, you have no idea!

I get the cartoon, but my immediate thought was that the CATG arrow shouldn’t be (and I don’t believe is) pointed the opposite direction of God and the Bible. After being in KC, actually also on the first day of the Global Bridegroom Fast, I wanted to move there. The atmosphere is different there because of the 24/7 prayer and worship that’s going on. If people could see what their Daniel Academy is like, what their kids are like, what their parents are like, I could ask the same question as your #6 but insert “public school” for “evangalism.” My heart aches for that for kids here, and everywhere. That “I heard from my mom’s grandpa’s cousin’s friend yadda yadda yadda” stuff is junk. How old are we? Get to the source, and yes, 20 minutes of prayer in church on Sunday morning isn’t even close to the same “playing field” as 10 hours of prayer a day. You wouldn’t go take a graduate level biochem class with the background of Physical Science as a freshman in high school. I agree 100% with your questions. God has done and is still doing a good work in you – Chin up, and press on!

Many of our elected representatives within the Democratic Party are no longer following in the time-honored footsteps laid down by the founding fathers of our great Nation. More importantly, we as democrats see our elected representatives within the Democratic Party abandoning the values and principles as set forth within the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.

Nonetheless, this is only the beginning of our problems as Democrats. The current Democratic Party leadership is tainted by corruption, and the liberals among us are supporting Socialists with their agendas based on implementing Fascist, Marxist and Communist political doctrines within our own government. These Socialists are clearly a threat to everything we hold sacred in America, and they are gaining evermore control over our Democratic Party, our Nation, and the American people.

Despite this, we as Democrats can restore control of the Democratic Party back to the party members. All we need to do is cut off donations to the local, state, and national headquarters of the Democratic Party, and to make sure the donations are made directly to patriotic and honorable Democratic Party candidates that are not corrupt or Socialists.

So please help spread the message to everyone of our fellow Democrats. Also, don’t forget to contact and request the Unions and other outside contributors to follow our lead as patriotic Americans.

I don’t believe in replacement theology either. I believe in “inclusion” theology. I think this is a helpful distinction.

PS – after surviving hurricane Ike, I know from personal experience how easily the infrastructure we rely on can be disabled. I Live on the west side of Houston and our home was hardly affected by Ike, but even our grocery store took a day or so to open again and several days to get fully stocked again. Thank goodness we had put back provisions. (even so, I was jonzin’ for fresh dairy products by about day 4 – LOL)

I have stored up 3-6 mos of food items (and some charcoal, JIC), and 6-12 mos of things like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper, etc. I am still working on it. I know there have been doomsday predictions for a long time that have not come to pass, but I believe the economy will take a dive after the holidays and I want to be prepared for hard times.

I also replaced my raised garden frames, added more soil, and planted a fall garden. I have stocked up on vegetable seeds and keep them stored in the refrigerator to prolong their ability to sprout.

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. Proverbs 22:3 ~ In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has. Proverbs 21:20

There is a book out wich is really good, called 90 minutes in heaven, it was written by a pastor, who did die in a car accident for the 90 minutes and was at the gate of heaven for that time. I think alot of what the problem in his case was lot’s of pain, and really not wanting to live in a less than perfect world. What he did find to help with some of the depression was to accept help from others. I am finding in my life when I loss all interest in things of this world or feel alot of depression something that does work is helping others.
