Fruitfulness – cantaloupe, potatoes, apples, green beans, acorn squash, corn, onion, carrots, tomatoes. The plan today was to can the tomatoes and make salsa and spaghetti sauce. But, we had a fireworks show come out from underneath one of the burners on our stove and now the stove doesn’t work at all.

Nice haul you guys! Hope you get that stove fixed quick-the only thing missing are the jalopenos and habeneros for the salsa! I make mine HOT!

We actually grew jalopenos for the salsa but we are all mild salsa people so we aren’t sure what to do with them now.
Today we get to buy a new stove. The electrician looked at the wires and just told us we could have had a major house fire.
That would have been a great headline in the paper “hot salsa starts house fire.”

You still need to put in a little jalopeno-and try some fresh cilantro, and sweet corn. Dennis will eat jalopenos raw, give the excess to him. It’s fun to watch his face turn red:)

Joe – I think kaitlyn has some on her facebook – if you are a friend of hers you can see them there. It’s a dusty mess right now – sheetrock. Ugh.

I had a bumper crop of apples this year, probably the best in the 10 years I have lived in my house. The second year I was here, my tree produced one very large red apple. I was afraid to pick it because I remembered Eve in the garden of Eden! ha!
I just made a batch of apple butter – yummy! and will make some apple desserts this weekend. I found an apple pie bars recipe that looks great with icing on top. Ooohhhh! I have a carmel apple cake recipe that is very good, too, with carmel ice cream topping that goes on top. I like to put that on after the cake comes out of the oven so that the carmel melts down into the cake. Mmmmmmmm.. Is your mouth watering yet? I can just hear my phone ringing with people asking for directions to my house so they can come over and sample my desserts. Ha! I’ll leave the windows open so you can smell the aroma on your way here.
I am glad your stove didn’t blow your house down! Praise God for His hand of providence! Praise Him for abundance of produce! I love fresh fruits and veggies, except tomatoes. I’ve never been able to eat those raw, but they are OK in salsa, soup, sauces, etc. My family gives me a bad time – “You won’t eat tomatoes plain, but will eat them in soup and other stuff!” The other stuff masks the plainness.
Blessings!

Howdy from Texas. We are doing well here in Houston. My Dad is very grateful for the help with my mom. She is doing well. Bob still needs a job and we are praying for the Lord to open that door. I also recently heard of the death of your mother Nancy. I was so so sad to hear that. Please know that I am very sorry for your loss. We miss everyone at Church at the Gate. Say hello from us. /Sincerely Bob and Rosie Watkins
